The Prison of Legalism
Most Christians agree that legalism is "bad" but don't really understand its implications and how serious it is. Legalism is attaching my spirituality to man-made rules and lists. Legalists think they are automatically more spiritual than other Christians because of their standards. To function this way is to live the Christian life in a prison cell of frustration. Standards are biblical and necessary, but we must guard against the attitude of arrogancy and the dangers of legalism in the process.
