Coming down to the end of this beautiful love story we find that the Shulamite maiden has finally been freed by the King and is going back to her beloved. She tells Solomon all of the things that she was looking for in her beloved and didn't find in him. Her mind flashes back to the shepherd and her words are most heartfelt.

Walking or Crossing the Line

As this "Love Story" is heading down the final stretch Solomon tries one more time to woo his "Love". Although, the Shulamite maiden will take none of his rather forward advances as he results to a very gruff and detailed description of her physical features. This only brings greater desire for him to have her and a greater disgust for Solomon in the heart of the maiden.

Human Love vs. Subhuman Lust

There is a great difference between Love and Lust. God has also created us different than the animals. It is no great crime that dogs will sleep around with every dog in the neighborhood, but when we start behaving that way we are just acting like animals. Real love is not given to the physical elements and has no long term ideas in mind.

In every Love Story there will be opportunity for another to challenge the choice that is made. In this passage the maiden is being asked why is her love, the shepherd, so great. She is quick to tell the daughters of Jerusalem just why he is the one for her. She tells them all about him and all of a sudden they are too interested for her liking. They want to know where to find him and she does a little quick maintenance to keep her beloved from these other women. True love is quick to build up the loved one and just a quick to protect them.

The Key Word is Response

Every love story has its bumpy moments and for the shepherd and the shulamite this is one of those times. The problem that occurs for this young couple is one of response. As husband and wife we do not respond correctly we cause issues in the relationship. In this passage it is the wife, although many times it is the husband, becomes frigid toward him and in turn he becomes frustrated at her, which causes her to fear for his love. At this point the only thing that will save the relationship is true forgiveness.

Choosing Between Two Men

The Love Story series continues with this tale of two men from which the shulamite maiden must choose. One is the king and the other is just a lowly shepherd, but position is not as important as actions. The king tried to inflame desire in the heart of the maiden and bring her to sin, but the loving shepherd was willing to wait until it was God's time and the maiden was ready. Love is well worth the wait, and God's timing is perfect.
