Beware of Dogma

No matter what kind of spiritual foundation or biblical understanding we possess, we must always be on guard against false philosophies pervading our Christian lives. After Paul lays a loving groundwork, he tells the Colossian believers to "beware" that their Christianity is not spoiled by the seducing and vain false teaching of their day. Similarly, you and I must beware that we are keeping Christ first and not bowing to errant thinking.

This groundwork serves as a reminder of the foundation that we all need for Christian living and to keep Christ the center of our lives. But good foundations are not the end purpose; God wants us to be grounded so we can be grafted in and growing to produce fruit as a thriving child of God.
