Missions Conference Here We Come (Feb 06, 2012)

We kicked off missions month yesterday with the sermon Turn on the Light.  There was a good response at the altar, and we are trusting that the Lord will begin to work in the hearts of our people in order that we might have the best faith promise commitment in the history of Grace Baptist Church.

Our annual world missionary conference will take place February 15-19 and our keynote speaker is Dr. David Snyder, president of BIMI.  We will have missionary appointees to Chile, France, Japan, Singapore, Uganda, and the United States with us.  We are trusting the Lord for $250,000 of faith promise commitment.  I am asking that you pray with us for this milestone figure.

Bus attendance jumped about 15% yesterday, for which we praise the Lord.  There were nine new visitors on the buses, and one child prayed to receive Christ in the counseling center of bus church.  Reuben and Roscio Perez have become active in targeting some of the Mexican population of our city, and there has been initially good response.  We are thankful for these Hispanic riders.

On Fort Benning this week, we ministered to 275 soldiers.  Brother Ingram reports that five servicemen stood to receive Christ this week.  Amen!

Progress on our new youth house continues to progress.  The complete inside has now been gutted, and it is time for the remodeling to begin.  It is estimated that this project will be complete by the end of February.  We are excited that this dream will soon become a reality.

In just a few minutes, I will head to the cafeteria for this month's power lunch.  We are scheduled to have 41 men have signed up for our leadership training today.  We are thankful for the opportunity to give Principles On Wielding Effective Responsibility.

On a personal note, I will be traveling to Nashville later this week to be the keynote speaker at South Haven Baptist Church's annual missionary conference.  Pray that God will use me to be an effective preacher.  I am thankful for the friendship of Dr. Frank Gagliano and am excited to help this dynamic ministry.

Our varsity boys and girls basketball teams will enter regional playoff competition this week.  The girls will play their sub-state game on Thursday with the boys playing theirs on Friday.  We appreciate the excellent spirit and success of our teams this year.

Your continued prayers do mean much to us.  Please keep them up.
